Jauch Quartz GmbH from Villingen-Schwenningen is celebrating an important anniversary this month: 70 years of successful company history. The company was founded on July 1, 1954 by Herbert Christian Jauch and entered in the commercial register of the town of Schwenningen. Today, the company is managed by Thomas Jauch, the son of the founder, who joined the company in 1974 and has been running it since 1987.
Origin in the Black Forest watch industry
Originally founded as a supplier for the Black Forest watch industry, Jauch Quartz has developed over the years into a globally recognized specialist for frequency control products and battery solutions. In the 1970s, the company expanded its portfolio to include the battery division, particularly in the field of lithium batteries, which is still one of the company’s main pillars today.
Today, Jauch operates globally and works with almost fifty distribution partners worldwide. With its own subsidiaries in France, the UK and the USA, the company serves a wide range of industries, including medical technology and the automotive industry. Miniaturized designs for smart solutions also play an important role in Jauch’s product range.
University of Sankt Gallen honors
In 2024, Jauch was awarded the title of “Global Market Leader Champion” by the University of St. Gallen. This award recognizes companies from the DACH region that are leaders in their market segment and have a sales presence on at least three continents. “The award encourages us in our daily work and particularly recognizes our employees for their commitment,” says Thomas Jauch proudly.
Investment in technical know-how
In recent years, Jauch has invested particularly in expanding its technical expertise. In the area of frequency components, the company has invested in its own praogramming machine for MEMS oscillators, which enables customers to individually configure oscillators with extremely short lead times. This programming service helps customers to act flexibly in the design phase, consolidate their supply chain and thus reduce operating costs and time to market.
This fall, Jauch will officially open its own test and certification center for battery solutions in Villingen-Schwenningen. With the expansion of the test laboratory to include a new test and certification center, Jauch can now test cells and batteries and issue test certificates, including the CB report in accordance with IEC62133-2:2017 and the UN38.3 transport test.
The Swabian company has always known how to exploit the potential of new trends and technologies. “A decisive competitive advantage in the coming years will also clearly lie in the area of technological expertise and customer consulting,” says Timo Schmidt, member of the management board. This is another reason why Jauch will once again be represented at the world’s leading trade fair for electronics, the “electronica” in Munich, in November. The 70th anniversary will certainly also be celebrated there with long-standing customers and business partners. In the anniversary month of July, the management toasted the past 70 years of the company’s history with all employees at the headquarters in Villingen-Schwenningen in a festive setting.
