Jauch opens their own test and certification center for cells and batteries

Jauch Quartz GmbH has opened its new test and certification center for cells and batteries. The company is expanding its existing battery laboratory and is now offering its customers comprehensive support in battery testing and certification. This is because, in addition to the very latest requirements of the new European Battery Regulation and the now necessary implementation of a conformity procedure for all batteries, the globally applicable requirements for product approvals must not be ignored.

Important tests for the transportation and safety of lithium batteries

Certifications are essential for companies that use batteries in their products. Without the necessary tests and approvals, manufacturers can be confronted with transport bans, fines or even market bans and, in the worst case, claims for damages. In particular, the UN38.3 transport test for lithium batteries and the IEC62133 safety standard for rechargeable lithium batteries are essential for the sale of battery-powered products. Jauch now carries out these important tests in-house at the company headquarters in Villingen-Schwenningen, in addition to customer-specific tests, which brings enormous benefits for customers.

“Our aim is to support customers throughout the entire development process - from the initial idea through to series production,” explains Sönke Zacher, lawyer and Head of Project Management at Jauch. With the new facility, the company can now not only test cells and batteries itself, but also issue certificates - either directly or in cooperation with renowned, accredited testing laboratories to test and meet standards such as those of UL, PSE, KC and CCC.

“Approval and certification processes are often complex and time-consuming. We relieve our customers by taking on these tasks for them. This not only saves them time and money, but also gives them planning security,” says Zacher. The center in Villingen-Schwenningen is registered as a “Customer Test Facility”, allowing Jauch to act as a direct contact for testing and certification.

Individual support for a wide range of industries

Whether medical technology, the automotive industry or automation - Jauch has gained extensive expertise in numerous sectors over the years. With an experienced team of technicians, engineers, chemists and a lawyer, Jauch offers its customers tailor-made solutions. From selecting the right housing to battery electronics, from simple protection systems to complex battery management systems - the company's expertise covers the entire development cycle.

“Many of our customers face major challenges when it comes to certifying their products. They often don't have the necessary expertise for the required product tests. We help them overcome this obstacle,” says Zacher. “With our new center, we can not only simplify existing processes, but also offer our customers a high level of safety and reliability.”

The opening of the test and certification center strengthens Jauch's position as a leading provider in the field of battery technology and represents a significant contribution to the region's innovative strength. Customers from all over the world will benefit from the improved infrastructure and the comprehensive range of services that Jauch now offers.
